Toyohashi Brushes

The roots of Toyohashi writing brushes trace back to 1804 when Suzik Jinzaemon relocated from Kyoto to Toyohashi. A distinctive aspect of the Toyohashi brush production process lies in the combination of different hair types through the use of water.

Crafting a single brush involves a meticulous sequence of approximately 36 processes, encompassing selection, rubbing, combining, and mixing of hair, as well as fitting it to the handle, finishing touches, and the engraving of an inscription.

This intricate procedure is pivotal in ensuring the brushes' user-friendliness, characterized by their ability to quickly absorb ink and release it gradually. It is this attention to detail that has established Toyohashi brushes as renowned high-quality products.
